Online access

We now accept applications from patients to access our on-line services i.e.: the on-line GP appointment booking service, the on-line repeat prescription request service and access to the following electronic medical records, immunisation, allergies and medication and consultations.

Electronic Prescriptions.

You are now able to choose where we send your scripts electronically to for dispensing. 

You must contact the pharmacy/appliance provider and make it known to them that you wish to nominate them to dispense your medication/appliances. They will activate your nomination.

The service is known as the Electronic Prescription Service (EPS).  

Please be aware that your script will then be sent electronically to your nominated pharmacy unless you ask us to print and keep it at the surgery for collection.  

We will contact you should we not be able to send your script to your nominated pharmacy.

PLEASE ALLOW 48 HOURS (i.e. 2 working days) for us to process your repeat prescriptions; unless your review date has passed and/or you are requesting medication that is not on your current repeat; in these instances it may take significantly longer.

We process over 200,000 repeat prescription requests each year and will unfortunately not be able to issue repeat prescriptions on the day they are received, as that slows down the process for other patients.  

Patients requiring prescriptions for the Contraceptive Pill are kindly reminded that they must allow 48 hours, following their consultation with a practice nurse, before they will be able to collect their prescriptions as these are issued by one of the GPs and not by the practice nurses.


The surgery is now providing health checks for patients 75 years and older. Should you be interested to attend one please ask at reception or call 01462 892 463 to book an appointment.


GP contract changes.

ALL patients (including those 75 years and over) of The Baldock Surgery have an accountable GP who will take lead responsibility for ensuring that any services which the surgery is required to provide under the General Medical Services contract (please click here for more information regarding the GMS contract) are, to the extent that their provision is considered necessary to meet the needs of the patient, coordinated and delivered to the patient. Please contact reception should you need to be reminded of who your accountable GP is.


Text reminding service:

We now send text messages to remind patients of their appointments, first when the appointment is made and then again 48 hours before the appointment. Please ensure that we have your mobile number should you wish to receive these reminders.

Please note that we cannot respond to any responses to these texts as it is an automated process.


New Clinical System

In order to better interact with other local Surgeries and Health Authorities the Baldock Surgery will be migrating to a different clinical system on the 9th May 2017.

Although this will bring benefits and improvements in the longer term it does mean there will be some disruption to patient services in the run up to this change. 

Patients will not be able to make a prebookable appointment from the 18th April for appointments up to the 9th May. We will be able to make appointments for after the 9th May in advance.

All patients with current on line access will have to have new passwords issued to them to be able to log in. We will be doing this on a trickle basis after we install the new system to minimise disruption, and spread the work in achieving this. For this reason we will not be able to process any new requests for on line applications from the 1st April until after the 9th May.

The move to the new system will create a lot of work for all the Practice staff and we would ask patients to be considerate of this during this busy period.
